About the Event

DC Project Connect Offers Four Virtual Classes. All classes are facilitated from the comfort of your home, office, or other spaces in a confidential web-secure portal. All participants are granted secure/invitation only login. We are seeking sponsors to cover the cost of this training.

Virtual Life Skills – Coping With Stress during COVID 19. Virtual delivery of life skills for women who are on lockdown in the Residential Reentry Center and who cannot see family and children. 30-day training format.

Reunification Preparation Discussions: Family's lives can be disrupted and strained by the disruption of incarceration as well as reunification of a returning citizen's integration in the household. Stress peaks, financial considerations increase, and the risk for conflict can ensue because of the sudden change in the home environment. This series can be delivered in multiple formats: cellphone, desktop, tablet, and conference call. This iCare workshop is designed for families to prepare for the return of a loved one from prison. Grief Support for Families of the Incarcerated: 

Grief support groups, as well as individualized support, can be provided in a 6-week virtual format. This seminar is designed to help people deal with the loss of a loved one who may have died in prison/jail due to COVID-19. This support is also for those who are grieving the loss and separation because of incarceration itself. Objective: to enable adult family members to better cope with grief. Children's Books Explaining Parental Incarceration:

Not everyone will be fortunate enough to return home from prison due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our bibliotherapeutic children’s books, audio resources, to explain incarceration using age-appropriate ways. Training curriculum is available for groups of parents and helping professionals who work with families affected by maternal and paternal incarceration.
